What do you like about your job?
My job is one of the most creative and expressive things I can imagine doing. I love carrying on my parent's tradition in children's books. I love the challenge of coming up with solutions to problems, and inventing new problems to solve. I love doing the research involved in making pictures and writing books. I love that I can be an artist and a teacher too.
I am also grateful that I have a job which allows me so much time with my family. When my boys where young, I was able to stop working when they came home from school. Being with them inspired my illustrations and new ideas for writing. Most of the books I have written were inspired by challenges and joys my husband and I experienced as parents.
I love the fact that my work is worthwhile and helps children learn to read, to understand their world a little better, and to have fun each day!
