Quilting
Lizzy Rockwell is a quilter and quilting teacher. In 2008 she formed a group called Peace by Piece: The Norwalk Community Quilt Project. The group is made up of children and adults, who meet weekly in Norwalk, CT and make collaborative quilts. Quilts are made as gifts, for fundraising and for personal use. Others are created for public installation. To date, seven quilts are in the permanent collection at Norwalk Community College, Stepping Stones Museum for Children, Norwalk Public Library, South Norwalk Branch Library and Newfield Library in Bridgeport, CT. Each of the installation quilts is designed by Lizzy and incorporates fabric art from numerous individuals. Public quilting bees allow even more people to participate in the communal work of art.
Lizzy's new book, The All-Together Quilt is based on the individuals and activities of Peace by Piece.
